Front leg (shoulder), back leg (ham), boneless or sliced ham?
We recommend buying sliced grain-fed or acorn-fed ham if:- You try Spanish Iberian ham for the first time
- You don't have much experience cutting ham (yet).
- You prefer convenience. Meaning... just open the package and enjoy!
- You aren't going to eat ham every day or every week.
- You are going to have guests over and you want to surprise them with an exclusive appetizer.
- You are uncomfortable with the fat on an entire ham.
- You want to buy a whole shoulder or ham, but you would prefer to try it first.
- You are the owner of a bar/restaurant. One 100g package corresponds to one full serving.
We recommend buying boneless grain-fed or acorn-fed ham if:
- You don't have a ham stand or a knife.
- Cutting ham by hand seems too tricky.
- You have a slicing machine.
- You are the owner of a bar/restaurant.
We recommend buying an Iberian grain-fed or acorn-fed shoulder (front leg or paleta) if:
- You are a family with 2-4 people (you will have enough for several weeks).
- You want to be able to enjoy short, thin slices whenever you fancy them.
- The pre-sliced packages disappear too quickly from your refrigerator.
We recommend buying an Iberian grain-fed or acorn-fed (back leg) ham (jamón) if:
- Spanish ham is not new to you, and you eat it regularly.
- There are more than 3 people in your house who can't resist this delicacy.
- A shoulder lasts you less than 2 weeks.
- You are the owner of a bar/restaurant and you want to offer this delicacy to your clients.
Still not sure which ham to buy? My co-workers and I would be delighted to help you:
